Arriving in November of last year on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network as the first phone in the United States with Beats Audio, the HTC Rezound 4G Android smartphone is currently offered at around $99 with a standard new two-year activation and data plan at select retailers. The handset is still exclusive to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE platform, and the full range Beats Audio sound system is delivered through an integrated pair of iBeats ear buds that ship with the handset. The red and black earbuds were made specifically for the Beats Audio software, and allow for easy hands-free calling with a built-in microphone. They also contain an in-line remote that allows you to rewind, advance or pause music when answering a voice call.

Rounding out the multimedia package is a built-in music player that supports all major file formats, as well as a pre-installed YouTube video player. An SRS WOW HD surround enhancement system is on board as well as a preset equalizer. The HTC Rezound 4G Android smartphone has been promised an over the air operating system transfer to the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS sometime from mid-June to mid-July, but that has not yet transpired. The handset runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread out-of-the-box, and the HTC Sense v3.5 UI Android overlay supports capacitive, multitouch gestures to navigate the phone.  There are multiple reports out that the ICS has already launched on the HTC Rezound, however we could not verify those reports and consider them unconfirmed.  If anyone has already received an official OTA ICS update, we’d be very interested to hear from you.

The display runs 4.30 inches, and that super LCD screen delivers an extremely high pixel density of 342 pixels per inch, resulting in an overall display resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. Light and proximity sensors are built in and automatically adjust for the proper brightness, while helping to conserve battery life. The hardware package on board the Rezound includes a Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon microchip package, with a dual core 1.5 GHz Scorpion central processor at its core. Also on board is an Adreno 220 chip that handles all graphics processing, 16 GB of built-in storage and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory. The HTC Rezound 4G also comes equipped with a microSD slot that supports microSDHC cards, up to 32 GB in size.

The high resolution camera combo on board the HTC Rezound is reminiscent of the Galaxy S II camera combos, with a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder and front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam. That rear device contains an LED flash, and offers autofocus, white balance, geo-tagging and special effects package, recording video at 1,080P HD resolution. The front facing chat cam also offers video call support, and the HTC Rezound 4G delivers Google integration in the form of Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail and Google Talk applications.  Buy the HTC Rezound 4G starting at $99.
