Recently, that handset underwent an over the air transfer to the new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, benefiting from a a smoother and quicker user interface and upgraded Google Now contextual search engine and virtual personal assistant. Improved graphical capabilities and better camera operation are also hallmarks of the new Jelly Bean OS.
The Galaxy S III has launched successfully on the heels of the best-selling Galaxy S II, which has totaled more than 50 million units sold globally. The GS 3 roared out of the starting gate by selling 20 million units in only its first 100 days of availability, and the Sprint Galaxy S III offers the most out-of-the-box RAM memory of any smartphone, one of the largest high resolution displays available on a mobile handset, and Near Field Communications (NFC) connectivity out-of-the-box.
The Sprint Galaxy S III also delivers twice the RAM memory found on most smartphones at 2.0 GB, and wireless data transfer through the Android S Beam application is one of the more popular NFC features the handset offers. A microSD slot is on board for storage expansion, with both 16 GB and 32 GB models are offered. The rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder delivers high resolution video capture at 1,080P HD, and the front facing chat cam offers video call support.
