A couple of weeks ago, we heard from one of our reliable sources that Verizon is getting ready to release a white version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus with only 16GB of onboard storage in the coming months. At the time the information was handed to us, a specific date wasn’t mentioned but apparently, the wireless provider has already a pegged date as to when we can expect the 16GB Samsung Galaxy Nexus to make its debut in the shelves of Verizon.

A document containing the wireless provider’s device launch information got recently leaked and this leaked document intimates that the 16GB version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus may hit the shelves of the carrier on April 5, hardly a month from now when you come to think of it. The original version of the device released by the carrier packed an internal memory of 32GB and had a price point of $299 if purchased directly from the carrier but with the incoming 16GB version of the device, it is only logical that the price point will also get significantly reduced for that matter. We’ve since this happen in the case of the Motorola Droid Razr so we wouldn’t be surprised at all if the 16GB Samsung Galaxy Nexus gets a price tag of $199 attached to it come launch day.
A caveat though is that everything in the leaked document isn’t set in stone yet as there is a disclaimer there that indicates that Launch Dates are still subject to change. Be that as it may, nothing will change the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is one of the best smartphones currently available in the market and we have the specs sheet of the device below to prove our point.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus was announced by Verizon back in October but it wasn’t until November that the device finally made its appearance at the shelves of the wireless provider. The handset has a frame with a curved design and it has dimensions of 135.5 x 67.9 x 9.5 mm and it weighs in at 150 grams.
Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus reeks of pure power where its Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system is powered by a Texas Instruments OMAP4460 chipset. A dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor on the other hand is paired with a full gigabyte of RAM to ensure smoothness and responsiveness in its operation and the new version of the handset coming on April 5 will have 16GB of internal storage as mentioned above. As for its display, the 4.65-inch SuperAMOLED Contour display of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus follows the curved design of its frame and has an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Despite the fire-breathing internals of the handset, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is not without faults and its biggest snag is its camera department that only has a 5MP shooter at its back panel and a 1.3MP video chat camera out front.
Despite the camera shortcoming of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, it still is one of the best smartphones out there and the original 32GB version of the handset is still being offered at select Verizon authorized retailers for only $99.99 with a new two-year contract with Verizon.
