bbporsheMany smartphones these days of launch with a three digit price tag, usually somewhere between $100 and $300 on contract. Unlocked smartphones can cost you a good deal more, but the new BlackBerry Z10 Porsche limited edition really makes a smartphone purchase a long and hard consideration. The BlackBerry brand is well-known, so why not marry one of the best-known sports car brands of all time with that of the eclectic Canadian smartphone manufacturer’s mobile handset?

The BlackBerry Z10 – 4G LTE is available for a reduced sale price now starting at .

The BlackBerry Z10 that you and I can afford currently retails for one penny on contract online at the Amazon Wireless store, and delivers the first entirely touchscreen driven user interface and form factor from the company formerly known for producing physical QWERTY keyboards on their best-selling BlackBerries. The BlackBerry Z10 is easily the most powerful and most advanced mobile handset ever produced by BlackBerry, and has been well received in the smartphone marketplace in its early going.

The $2,000 (that’s right, 2,000 bucks) BlackBerry Z10 Porsche edition looks similar to the standard Z10, except with a curved bottom bumper, a metal frame and a textured back panel. The Porsche BlackBerry Z10 (aka BlackBerry P’9982) has a touchscreen user interface which has been slightly modified from the carrier sponsored Z10 handset, and offers a removable back panel which covers access for a microSIM and microSD card. The handset reportedly supports wireless charging, and in other respects mirrors the AT&T or Verizon BlackBerry Z10 smartphones, except in price.

After years of dominance in the smartphone arena, the company formerly known as RIM has been treated roughly the last few years by smartphone shoppers. Stubbornly sticking to their physical QWERTY keyboard form factor even after the record-breaking and best-selling original iPhone appeared in 2007, followed by similar looking Android devices, BlackBerry popularity plummeted. Finally the company has jumped on the “large high-resolution display and powerful feature set” bandwagon, with the BlackBerry Z10 debuting the new BlackBerry 10 operating system.

The BlackBerry Z10 debuted with the BlackBerry Q10 in March of this year in the United States, with the Q10 offering a smaller high-resolution screen as well as the familiar BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard of old. The BlackBerry Z10 4G has a soft touch backing, a large 4.20 inch LCD display which supports capacitive, multitouch gestures, and HD+ resolution of 768 by 1,280 pixels. Pixel density is high at 356 pixels per inch, and the handset is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and a generous 2.0 GB of RAM memory.

The BlackBerry Z10 – 4G LTE can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at .
