Sometimes a smartphone gets seen before the manufacturer is ready to show it. Such is the news for the BlackBerry Curve Apollo 9370. This one has been revealed from a site way over in Vietnam. With their proven track record, they have seen an Apollo 9370 and took the liberty to report on it.

First off, the name Apollo is nothing that may not be changed in the future when this Blackberry smartphone is put on the market. A high percentage of smartphones are given code names before the general public sees them. For now it is shaping up to be the next Curve handset from Research In Motion. The model number is for sure 9370.

Blackberry is treating their customers to the same “over and under” design with the BlackBerry Curve Apollo 9370. It has worked for years, but now they are including touch features with the screen. This is similar to the other new Blackberry model, the 9900. This will be an upgrade for those who have a current Curve.

The front of the upcoming Apollo Curve is reminiscent of the Curve 8520 or the Curve 3G 9300. The mute button is located smack dab in the volume control. The lock key is located on top. That is where Research In Motion also decided to put the 3.5 millimeter head phone jack, which is a departure from days gone by. The overall look of the 9370 is one of savvy slimness. It is going to be like the Bold 9900. The screen is packed with 480 by 360 pixels of clarity ( resolution ). The rear of the smartphone sports a five megapixel camera with flash. There is a second camera on the front for video chats.

Running the show for the BlackBerry Curve Apollo 9370 is a 800 megahertz processor. This is slower than the major manufacturers, such as HTC, Apple and HTC. Otherwise, the phone comes with Wi-Fi, and HSPA at speeds up to 7.2 megabits per second. It is running OS 7, the mobile operating system developed by Research In Motion. It features the “universal search” function as well as an improved and faster web browser. The browser will be able to handle Adobe flash files for a full internet browsing experienc. There will be no DLNA or LTE wireless service for the Apollo.

The battery is destined to last longer for this BlackBerry smartphone. There will also be a CDMA version of the 9370 called the Sedona. It will have a 9350 model number. No prices are yet announced but the release date is set to be in August, according to that same Vietnamese contact.
