The Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablet has been on the market for some time now and even though it has not been in the news all that much, that does not mean that consumers forgot about the device. According to reports from this week, it looks like leaked images might be showing that the Kindle Fire HD 2 could come with a new design. The leaked images that popped up this week show the exterior of the product and you can clearly see the design changes. The tablet will still be a 7-inch model when it arrives on the market.
One image shows what appears to be the back of the device where you can see the Amazon branding, speakers, volume controls and the power button. The rest of the back side looks to be covered via Photoshop with black that appears to be hiding something else. The online source that leaked the images claims that Amazon will also be releasing an 8.9-inch model that will look very similar to the 7-inch model, but it will come with a 2560×1600 resolution for the display. The 8.9-inch model will also come with an 8MP camera on the back side.
The 7-inch model will feature a touch screen display with a 1920×1200 resolution, while other rumors suggest the new tablet models could see one of the fastest quad-core processors on the market. If you do not know by now what the fastest quad-core processor is on the market, it is the Snapdragon 800 from Qualcomm, which is clocked at 2.3GHz and will add a significant boost to the Kindle series of tablets. The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software, 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal memory and 2GB of RAM round out the main features that are being rumored for the device.
Back in July it was first rumored that consumers would first see the new Kindle Fire HD tablets in August or September sometime, so there is still time for Amazon to get an official announcement on the table. The odds are very good that the Kindle Fire HD will be selling very quickly during the holiday shopping season so if Amazon waits until then, it does not really seem like a big deal if they wait an extra month or more. Last year the 8.9-inch model was released in November.
