Oh the joys of waiting for a bargain. It is no big mystery that every smartphone which arrives will eventually see a drastically discounted price tag as new handsets appear. That is definitely the case concerning the compact and lightweight Motorola Droid Razr M 4G Android smartphone. The handset originally debuted with a $99 price tag back in September of last year, but in advance of a slew of high-end handsets rolling out in spring and summer every year, many retailers discount their current stock, and that is the benefit the current Droid Razr M 4G enjoys at Amazon.
At the nearly free price tag of $0.01 with a standard two-year contract, the Droid Razr M 4G is a global ready phone that can access networks in more than 205 different countries around the world. It also carries the title of the lightest, thinnest and most compact of the “refreshed lineup” of Droid Razr smartphones, and is exclusive to the Verizon wireless network in the US. The Chrome for Android mobile web browser offers instant Internet access out-of-the-box, the handset delivers NFC wireless support, with the Jelly Bean 4.1 Android operating system on board.
Verizon has included their Visual Voicemail service which allows you to handle your voicemail messages without having to cycle through previous messages or voice instructions. This application also allows you to save up to 40 messages for 40 days, and you can create 10 totally different greetings based upon caller IDs. The minimalistic Droid Razr M 4G is a rugged handset with DuPont Kevlar back plate and aircraft grade aluminum framing which surrounds the large 4.30 inch display that is protected by Gorilla Glass.
Even the interior of the Droid Razr M 4G is durable, as it is protected by a water repellent nanocoating. Motorola Mobility engineers pulled the display from corner to corner and edge to edge on the front of the handset, creating a very compact form factor that measures 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.33 inches (122.5 x 60.9 x 8.3 mm). Lightweight as well at 4.44 ounces (126 g), the Droid Razr M delivers 540 x 960 pixel resolution to its large 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED display. DLNA wireless connectivity provides video out options.
The handset is capable of a generous 20.0 hours of talk time from a full battery charge, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system chip powering the phone is built around a dual core 1.5 GHz CPU. A microSD slot provides storage expansion, accentuating the 8.0 GB of internal storage already on board. High resolution video capture occurs at 1,080P HD with the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder, and the front facing chat cam can also be used for video calls.
