If you happen to have AT&T for your wireless provider and rock the carrier’s version of the HTC One VX, you might as well be on the lookout for a little notification that an update has landed on your handset. As it stands, HTC and AT&T are now in the process of rolling out the much-awaited Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to the HTC One VX and the refresh started hitting the airwaves last August 2.
The announcement was made over the official support site of HTC which makes things as official as they can get. According to HTC’s support site, the rollout of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to the HTC One VX will happen via the usual OTA manner. This means that users of the HTC One VX can either wait for that little notification to come up on their handsets once the update is already available OR they also have the option of proactively checking for the availability of the update by going to Settings > AT&T Software Update > Check for updates.
In addition to that OTA manner, users of the HTC One VX also have the option of manually applying the update to the handset by downloading HTC One VX for AT&T ROM update and manually flashing it onto their devices.
Once applied to the handset, the update will crank up the software version of the HTC One VX to version 2.21.502.1 and bring the following enhancements to the device:
- Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with Google Now
- HTC Sense 4+
- AT&T LTE Enhancements
The LTE enhancement part is actually the same one found on the update AT&T recently rolled out to the HTC One which brings support for LTE bands 2 and 5 which the carrier will be using more for its LTE network in the future.
As a reminder, should you decide to download the update via OTA, ensure that your HTC One VX’s battery is charged to at least 30% and the handset is connected to a charger as well. It is also advisable to have the update downloaded via a stable Wi-Fi connection to ensure that the whole update process goes off without a hitch.
Going back to the HTC One VX, the handset was officially unveiled back in October last year but it only made it to the shelves of Ma Bell in November. The handset is a midranger and relies on a QualComm MSM8930 SnapDragon chipset to power its operation. A dual-core 1.2 GHz processor on the other hand works in conjunction with a full gigabyte of RAM to keep the performance of the HTC One VX at peak levels. Though the handset only comes with 8GB of onboard storage, the HTC One VX at least has a dedicated microSD card slot for memory expansion. Display-wise, the HTC One VX sports a 4.5-inch Super LCD2 panel with a qHD resolution of 540 x 960 pixels while its camera department features a rear 5MP shooter and a front VGA snapper for self-portraits and video calls.
