Back in the day when quad-core powered handsets were just mere plans in the drawing boards of OEMs, Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer HTC was already on the bleeding edge of things when news of the existence of the HTC Edge came out. The HTC Edge during that time has got the distinction of being the first handset in the world to be powered by a quad-core processor in its internals and with this handset, the quad-core revolution got started.
The handset however did not stick with the HTC Edge codename and had to go through several name changes before it finally settled for HTC One X when it was unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Berlin back in February. The handset on the other hand was released in US shores via AT&T where the handset instantly became a hit and found itself always in the bestsellers list of the carrier month after month after month. And with its status as once the flagship device of HTC, it was a given that the handset will also get upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and this much was confirmed by its manufacturer after Jelly Bean was unveiled by Google back in July.
The international version of the HTC One X has already gotten the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean refresh a couple of weeks back after a couple of months of waiting but as is always expected, the version of the handset that made it to US shores is still waiting for the update to land because AT&T is yet to give the go signal for the rollout to commence.
But if you happen to have enough technical know-how and have more than enough guts to tinker with your device knowing that one wrong move could void your warranty or worse, turn your smartphone into a building material, you could give your AT&T HTC One X 4G a taste of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, albeit unofficially. For those unafraid to get their hands dirty, a ported ROM for the HTC One XL will give you an idea of what Android 4.1 Jelly Bean looks and feels like on your HTC One X 4G. It comes with stock Sense 4+ ROM but a SuperUser feature has already been added and all the Asian language stripped away.
As for the HTC One X 4G, the handset relies on its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chispet to power its operations and this SoC brings to the handset a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM to ensure that the performance of the device is always flawless. Storage space on the handset is pegged at 16GB while its display, which is said to be the best in the industry, is a 4.7-inch Super IPS LCD 2 panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Its camera department on the other hand boasts of a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.
