Most of the devices that are even worth talking about have already been updated with the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software. While some of the higher end smartphones and tablets that have been released in the past six months are waiting for the Android 4.4 KitKat software to show up, there are a couple of smartphones that are still on the Android 4.3 update list. One of those smartphones happens to be the Sony Xperia smartphone and all of the variations. Sony just released the Google Play Edition Sony Xperia and that came with Android 4.4.2 KitKat pre-installed on it.
Sony just confirmed this week that the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system has been starting to roll out for the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and the Xperia Z tablet. Sony has the software ready after all of the normal testing and planned to release it over the holidays and into the first week or so of next year. The Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Z Tablet will be getting the update starting this week and there have been a few random reports posted online that confirm this is happening.
Just like with any other update that is sent out to a smartphone, or tablet, it is sent out in phases with increasingly more devices as the days go by. This is to ensure that the software update is not causing any issues as it starts to get downloaded and installed by the users. With the Sony Xperia Z Ultra getting the Android 4.4.2 KitKat software last week, it looks like Sony has an update for each device that is currently still on the market. Android 4.3 Jelly Bean brings plenty of reasons to be thankful and they include better battery life and performance enhancements that are noticeably smoother.
Sony is also going to add a bit of its own updating to go along with the software update and that includes a new social camera app, performance tweaks and a few fixes for bugs that have been reported since the last update came along. Sony apps that have been updated include Walkman, MyXperia and more themes to give users the option to change the look and the feel of their smartphone at any time. The tablet will be getting restricted user profiles and better battery life as well.
