Ever since the iconic Android operating system versions officially began to receive desert nicknames when the Android 1.5 Cupcake arrived on April 30 of 2009, a new yummy name has accompanied each subsequent OS update. We are currently up to Jelly Bean, and the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is the newly anticipated Android operating system update set to be released. Whoever began giving the Android OS updates yummy dessert and candy names must have well understood the anticipation that is generated when someone is waiting to receive a tasty treat.
However, many of us know what Key Lime Pie tastes like, yet we have not been officially informed as to just what the next Android operating system upgrade will deliver exactly. Each Android OS upgrade seems to be more highly anticipated than the last, but having said that, this particular jump from Android 4.2 (API level 17) all the way up to 5.0 has raised some eyebrows and generated much interest. The software has not even been confirmed by Google, and smartphone shoppers are already anticipating its release.
Should it follow in the ridiculously popular footsteps of the Android Jelly Bean operating system, there is no doubt it will be one of the most widely regarded mobile operating systems on the planet. And recent rumors have been tied to upcoming and highly anticipated smartphone launches, without any confirmation. The mobile marketplace is buzzing concerning when the Galaxy S IV will be launched, and exactly what characteristics and features that handset will deliver, and there is much to support the idea of a KLP 5.0 debut on that handset.
Given that the Samsung Galaxy S III is the runaway most popular Android smartphone of all time, and the Galaxy S IV already has buyers waiting with their plastic for a launch date, Google would be wise to virtually guarantee a successful launch of their upcoming Key Lime Pie Operating system. However, the the Motorola/Google X smartphone has also been mentioned as a likely candidate. Google purchased a huge chunk of Motorola Mobility at the tail end of last year, so significant arguments can be made to support that hypothesis.
The bottom line is all we have at this point regarding Android’s OS Key Lime Pie version 5.0 is conjecture and speculation. And the specs and features the new OS delivers will vary as you move from site to site. We are stopping short of proclaiming any particular feature set, but multiple developers and experts in the industry agree that significant improvements must be made to the Android keyboard. Aside from that, Key Lime Pie specs and a delivery date are anybody’s guess.
