>Apple has recently released the new iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C to the public and for the most part the hardware has been outstanding and getting positive reviews all over the place. The software, however, has not been the same and after a series of smaller bug fixes, Apple might have finally got the iOS 7 software where it wants it. The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C have been selling fast and in just about every single market available, with the new iPad Air and iPad Mini 2 coming right around the corner.
Apple recently announced that there might be problems with your iPhone 5S battery. In a report in the New York Times, Apple is admitting that a “manufacturing issue” may have caused some batteries on the new iPhone 5S smartphone to be short on life. The batteries were not noticed via the assembly process and might have been shipped to consumers, so the company is asking those with issues to ship the battery back for a new replacement. Apple spokesperson Teresa Brewer said, “We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5S devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life. We are reaching out to customers with affected phones and will provide them with a replacement phone.”
The report did not indicate how many batteries could be affected, but did point out that “manufacture issue” is not the same as a defective battery. When the iPhone 5S hit the market, the company sold more than 9 million of them in the first weekend and has since run into some supply issues with the high demand, just like every other year since the first iPhone showed up.
That being said, Apple did not give you the exact number, but it could be as high as half of the device or more in the end that were affected. Many have taken to the web to make sure that others know whether they are affected or not with most of them reporting that there is nothing out of the ordinary with their device. Apple could be replacing the smartphone if there is any issue, so this is a good time to test your device and see if you are in need of a new one before it gets to be too late.
