Now that Apple is about to officially announce the iPhone 5S along with the iPhone 5C, consumers have seen plenty of leaked images, specs and features, the latest image shows the new lower cost iPhone 5C packed and ready to ship. The image shows the new iPhone 5C in a bunch of different colors, like previously rumored, and in packaging that looks like it is ready to ship. Even though the image comes to us from China, it is still a good leak and one that should ring true once Apple gets to announcing the new handsets.
The leaked images were posted on a Chinese social network and the packaging might look familiar to those that have the iPod Touch device. The phone is sitting on the top of a box and the entire package is wrapped in clamshell plastic. Shoppers will not be able to miss the new smartphone on the store shelves as the package is clear and shows up the entire device from the front side. The packaging also shows the iPhone 5C branding on the side and on the front side is sticker that shows the color of the back side of the device that is inside the package.
The iPhone 5C is going to be Apple’s answer to a lower cost smartphone mobile carriers can offer to users in emerging markets. One of those markets is China and if Apple can strike a deal with China Mobile, it could offer the iPhone to millions more users than they already do overseas. This would drastically increase the company’s market share and put in them in line to keep up with Android powered smartphones from a global standpoint. Typically, Apple will lower the cost of the older iPhone model when the new one arrives, but this year it is going to introduce a different, lower cost model instead.
The lower cost comes from a plastic back case and a front panel that is not protected by glass. This will reduce the cost just enough that Apple can offer the smartphone in areas where the iPhone has been considered too expensive. The hardware on the inside of the device should resemble what you can find inside the current iPhone 5, but that has yet to be announced. The iPhone 5C will also be available in more than a couple colors for the first time since Apple released the iPhone back in 2007.
