The fifth generation iPad will be on the market very soon and Apple did not waste any time getting new covers and cases for the iPad Air to the market. Apple announced the new tablet this week, along with the iPad Mini 2 and along with it came the new Smart Cover and Smart Case, which will be available to ship on the 1st of November. The new “smart accessories” will also be available for the new iPad Mini 2, according to the company. The cases will be essential if you want to provide some new color or protection for your new device.
The Smart Cover for the iPad Air, or the iPad Mini will cost you just $39, while the Smart Case is going to be priced a little bit higher at $79. If you remember the original Smart Cover, this version will be very similar although it has been slimmed down a little bit to fit the thinner iPad Air bezel. The Smart Case is made from leather and is basically an extension of the Smart Cover, which includes a shell that cover the whole tablet when you have the Smart Cover closed.
Apple did not say what colors would be available for the new covers and cases, but photos that appeared online should that users will have a variety of them to choose from. The Smart Cover will come in red, yellow, blue, green and black. The Smart Case will come in yellow, blue, gray, brown and black. Apple did mention that both accessories will be available in Product (Red), but did not mention if the price was going to be the same or more for the premium color. The Smart Case will come with a price tag that reads just $79.
There will be other companies that are looking to cash in on the Apple popularity so you could expect to see some other third party cases and covers as well if you are looking for something else that Apple does not offer officially. Companies like Logitech will create covers that double as Bluetooth keyboards for the full sized tablets, while some others add a little more bulk to the case that would come with pockets, pen holders and other things that would make the case more productive to have.
