In recent BlackBerry Z10 news, the AT&T upgrade to the BlackBerry 10.1 operating system which was recently released was evidently in error. BlackBerry announced that the recent AT&T BlackBerry 10.1 OS over the air transfer which hit some AT&T customers was released before the company had intended. If you are an AT&T BlackBerry owner, or are thinking about purchasing the new BlackBerry Z10 4G, AT&T said the re-release of the officially sanctioned BlackBerry 10.1 OS will happen in the next few weeks.
The BlackBerry Z10 is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $49.99.
The phone debuted in the United States on March 11, delivering a totally different form factor than traditional BlackBerry lovers are familiar with. Gone is the physical QWERTY keyboard which made the BlackBerry smartphones unique, and the Canadian company formally known as RIM hopes that poor sales over the past several years are also in their rear view mirror. If the early numbers are any indication, the phone has been a successful offering, hitting 1.0 million units much faster than analyst’s expectations. The handset is currently offered by select online retailers on the AT&T HSPA+ 4G network for around $49 on contract.
The brand new BlackBerry 10 operating system debuts on the Z10, and though that OS is still in its infancy, there are more than 120,000 applications already available for use on the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone. The new touchscreen input features a virtual BlackBerry Keyboard, which uses artificial intelligence to learn your writing style the more you use it. It will even suggest words to help you type quicker and more accurately, and when you mistype certain words frequently, the keyboard will learn to adjust your mistakes over time and help you hit the correct key.
The handset contains a front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam which you can also use for video calls, and the Z10′s Screen Share feature allows you to share whatever is in your browser window, photos and data, documents and more. Voice dialing is supported, and the premier camera on the phone is an 8.0 megapixel camcorder. The handset offers artistic filters and customization features to that rear shooter, which is capable of recording video in 1,080P HD resolution.
You can also mirror whatever is on that display on an HDTV or monitor wirelessly through DLNA connectivity, or through the wired HDMI connection. The BlackBerry Z10 was designed with a soft touch material on the back to minimize drops, and the handset delivers a 4.2 inch LCD with 1,280 x 768 pixel resolution. Pixel density runs 356 pixels per inch, and the phone is powered by 2.0 GB of RAM and a 1.5 GHz dual core central processor. The built-in microSD slot supports memory cards up to 64 GB of size, which accentuate the built-in 16 GB of data storage space.
The BlackBerry Z10 can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $49.99.
