The much-anticipated BlackBerry Z10 smartphone has finally arrived. The handset runs the new BlackBerry 10 operating system, and is the first BlackBerry to operate on the AT&T 4G LTE network in the US. Recently the handset was spotted after its debut on the Amazon Wireless website at a retail price of $99 on contract, a discount from its launch price. The handset’s new BlackBerry Hub lets you sneak a peek at your in box from any application, allowing you to do so without stopping your current activity.
The touchscreen operated BlackBerry Keyboard that replaces the iconic physical keyboard of previous BlackBerries actually learns your writing style. It then suggests words to help you type quicker and more accurately. The Z10 offers Wireless-N Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, and Near Field Communications (NFC) connectivity options, and the phone is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and 2 GB of RAM. BlackBerry (formerly RIM) designed the handset much like current popular smartphones, in a slim and light form factor.
The BlackBerry Z10 measures 0.35 inches (9.0 mm), and weighs just 4.85 ounces (138 g). The phone offers a large 4.2 inch touchscreen with a resolution of 768 x 1,280 pixels, and pixel density is high at 356 pixels per inch. The new touchscreen driven BlackBerriy Z10 accepts capacitive, multitouch gestures for device navigation, and contains light and proximity sensors for power conservation. BlackBerry says the handset is capable of up to 10.0 hours of talk time and 13.0 days of battery power from a single charge of its 1,800 mA cell.
A BlackBerry Z10 owner can mirror whatever is on the large high-resolution display to an external monitor or HDTV via microHDMI type D connectivity, and the handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system chip. An Adreno 225 GPU handles all graphics processing, with microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC support for external memory cards up to 64 GB in size. The BlackBerry Z10 also comes equipped with a built-in music player that supports all major file formats.
An 8.0 megapixel camcorder is built into the back of the Z10, recording video at a rate of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080P HD resolution). That camera contains an LED flash and f/2.2 sensor, and offers features like digital image stabilization, touch to focus, autofocus and other personalization and customization options. A chat cam has also been included on the front of the Z10, providing for video chats and video calls.
