After waiting to find out if the HTC One was even going to be updated with the new Android software, some users assumed AT&T might wait until the Android 4.4 KitKat becomes available. That does not seem to be the case as the company finally announced that it will be updating the HTC One to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean next week. HTC announced that the update on the AT&T network has passed the certification process and will start to roll out as early as next week. Last week, HTC and Sprint got together and made sure the same update started rolling out without issues.

Shortly after Sprint had announced that the HTC One was going to be updated, other companies like AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless announced that they would be updating the variation available on their networks by the end of October. HTC originally promised the update would be ready before the end of September, but once the last day of the month passed, it was obvious that the company was not going to be making that deadline. It would only be a couple of days later when an executive at HTC officially announced the delay and the release dates for the mobile carriers in the United States.
Even though the dates were not exact, it was clear that all of the HTC One models would be updated by the end of October. On the AT&T network, the update is going to be a larger one and not only will it be bringing the Android 4.3 software to the device, it is loaded with device enhancements as well as an update to the Sense 5 user interface software. This will be the first major update for the HTC One and it will most likely come with some kinks to work out.
T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless have not officially announced that certification has passed on their versions of the software at this time, but it should not be very much longer at this point. The odds are very good that the popular HTC One will also be updated to the Android 4.4 KitKat software when that becomes available sometime after the 14th of this month, according to Google. Google is planning to announce the new software at that time, along with the Nexus 5 smartphone and new Nexus 10 tablet.
