AT&T has one of the largest selections of smartphones of all the major mobile carriers in the United States and when it comes to getting them all updated the company does a pretty good job. Even if the handset is older and is not getting the latest and greatest, updates are still sent out and that keeps customers happy about not having to switch carriers. The HTC One X is reportedly going to be getting the Android 4.2 software some day and according to reports that could be as early as next week.
The once popular smartphone is getting its last Android update, but it will be coming with HTC Sense 5 user interface as well, which is a nice step up in the software. The update for the device was sent to mobile carriers back in August by HTC and ever since then it has been a waiting game for those on the AT&T network with the HTC One X. HTC claimed the update would hit AT&T sometime this month and that was going to come with an update for the HTC One X+ as well. If everything goes as planned for next week, the announcement will have held true.
An executive at HTC noted that the HTC One X is targeted for the update starting next week and that is only going to happen should HTC get technical approval from AT&T. Once the update does arrive, it will not only bump the Android operating system a little, but it will also bring the popular features that have been added to the HTC Sense user interface. One of the most popular features include HTC’s BlinkFeed, but unfortunately the HTC Zoe application will not be downloaded with the new software.
The HTC One X launched back in February of 2012 and since then it has been updated from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 4 to Android 4.2 and Sense 5 starting next week. The phone features a 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 touch screen display with scratch resistant glass and a 720p HD resolution. The phone is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon S4 Plus processor, 1GB of RAM and an Adreno 225 graphics processor. The camera is the 8MP model on the back, with a smaller, 1.3MP webcam on the front side. Support for Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, DNLA and HDMI are also included.
