If you happen to be a fanboy of the Windows Phone ecosystem, then you most definitely got excited with the bevy of Windows Phone 8-powered devices announced by Microsoft a couple of months back. The usual suspects Nokia, Samsung and HTC have all their respective devices in the mix with Nokia releasing the Lumia 920, Samsung the ATIV S and HTC with the Windows Phone 8X. All of these devices were introduced to the smartphone-buying population in our side of the world in Microsoft’s Windows Phone event held last September while the devices mentioned above with the exception of the ATIV S all headed to their respective carriers.
The HTC Windows Phone 8X, the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer’s flagship device for the Windows Phone platform immediately got added to the portfolio of AT&T where it made its debut in the shelves of the carrier last November 9. Since then, the HTC handset has become one of the hottest Windows Phone 8 handsets in the lineup of the carrier and with the handset’s impressive resume and even more impressive capabilities, it is not surprising at all that a lot of Windows Phone fanboys are aiming to make the HTC Windows Phone 8X their next mobile weapon of choice.
If you happen to be one of this pack, now is probably the best time to break that piggy bank and hand over the dinero because the HTC Windows Phone 8X is now cheaper than ever. As it stands, in just a couple of weeks after its release, AT&T has already given the green light to its authorized retailers to slash the price of the HTC Windows Phone 8X making the handset more affordable than ever. Of course, you will still be required to sign a new two-year service agreement with the wireless provider if you want to take advantage of the HTC Windows Phone 8X at its listed price.
As for the HTC Windows Phone 8X, the handset reached official status when it was unveiled by HTC back in September. Design-wise, the handset is your typical candy bar smartphone with measurements of 132.4 x 66.2 x 10.1 mm and it tips the scales at 130 grams. It comes in very eye-catching paint jobs such as California Blue, Graphite Black, Flame Red, and Limelight Yellow.
Under the hood, the HTC Windows Phone 8X already runs Windows Phone 8 (as its name suggests) for its operating system and this is powered by the handset’s QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset. This SoC gives the handset a dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz working in conjunction with a full gigabyte of RAM to ensure the snappy and lag-free performance of the device. Its storage comes up to 16GB though there is no memory expansion option of the handset. Display-wise, the HTC Windows Phone 8X sports a 4.3-inch SuperLCD 2 panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its dual-shooter configuration boasts of a rear 8MP shooter and a front 2.1MP video call and self-portrait camera.
