What Motorola is calling Touchless Control gives you the ability to communicate with your phone in a hands-free fashion, simply by talking to it. This is a common feature on handsets these days, but the special language processor on board the Motorola Moto X even understands you when it is in standby or sleep mode. Simply say “OK Google Now” and give your phone a command. The handset supports voice commands for multiple operations and functions, and after you teach it to understand your voice, it recognizes your vocal input, even in a crowded room.
Motorola has stated that the Moto X “lets you customize every nook and cranny of the outer appearance, down to your own boot.” This customization includes optional headphones which match the color of the back plate on the handset, and the phone offers an active displayed notification feature which only illuminates the area of your screen which is needed for a notification. This helps conserve battery life, as does the special X8 customized processing core package which runs the handset.
Up to 13.0 hours of talk time can be squeezed out of a single battery charge on the Moto X, with the quad core graphics processor, single core language processor, a single core contextual computer and 1.7 GHz dual core CPU automating low-energy tasks to use as little energy as is possible. The large display runs 4.70 inches, with a resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels. Pixel density is high at 316 pixels per inch, and Corning Gorilla Glass protects the display. Motorola has included 2.0 GB of RAM memory and 16 GB of built-in data storage space.
Storage is greatly enhanced by the 50 GB of free Google Drive storage space offered to all Motorola Moto X buyers, and the quick capture mode on the rear facing 10.0 megapixel camcorder is activated by simply twisting your wrist twice. That rear snapper can record in slow motion and in a 16 to 9 aspect ratio, and captures video in 1,080P HD resolution and 30 frames per second in stereo sound. A high dynamic range mode (HDR), a 4X digital zoom, auto and touch to focus and multishot burst mode are all featured. The Moto X for AT&T also offers a front facing chat cam of 2.0 megapixels, capable of 1,080P HD resolution video recording.
