galaxynoteiidecThe term “phablet” is derived from a combining of the words smartphone and tablet. Coming in to vogue in 2012, the word phablet refers to any smartphone with a powerful processor, high-resolution display, 4G LTE connectivity and a large tabletlike display size. Capable of both operating as a high-end smartphone as well as a mini-tablet, the original Samsung Galaxy Note last year became known as the preeminent phablet in the entire mobile marketplace.

The Galaxy Note II for ATT is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $249.99.

Industry experts and analysts alike did not believe that such a large smartphone would be popular with the typical consumer electronics customer, but the handset has moved more than 5 million units to date globally. Enter 2013, and we have the Galaxy Note II made by Samsung, with a display even larger than that of the original Galaxy Note. Delivering the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, a powerful quad core processor, and a large high-resolution screen, the Galaxy Note II has already sold 5 million units globally in just over 3 months.

The Galaxy Note II landed on the AT&T 4G LTE network on November 9 of last year. The popular smart stylus S Pen and native handwriting recognition technology that debuted on the Galaxy Note has returned, and the display has been stretched to a beautiful 5.55 inches. The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS benefits from the Samsung TouchWiz UI Android overlay, supporting capacitive, multitouch gestures.

Whether you call it a tablet or smartphone, the device is slim at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm). And the 5.55 inch Super AMOLED screen is laid out in a “true HD” 16 to 9 aspect ratio, the standard for HD video viewing. Resolution runs high at 720 x 1,280 pixels, and that is delivered at the rate of 265 pixels spread out over every inch of display space. The AT&T Galaxy Note II also uses more than 16 million separate colors to render visual displays.

Battery performance is exceptional, with the 3,100 mA extended life cell offering nearly double the 4G smartphone average, with 15.0 hours of talk time delivered from a single battery charge. Standby time runs approximately 12.0 days, and the Samsung Exynos 4 chip package that powers the handset is anchored by a quad core 1.6 GHz CPU. An ARM Mali 400 MP4 quad core graphics processor is also on board, 16.0 GB of built-in data storage are present, as is a full 2.0 GB of RAM system memory. Video capture runs 1,080P HD resolution with the 8.0 megapixel camcorder, and video call support is provided by the front facing chat cam.

You can purchase the Galaxy Note II for a discounted price tag now starting at $249.99.
