The Lumia 920 is going to be part of the high end mobile segment according to AT&T and it will be featured in five different colors, each one maintaining a unique shade of its own. The phone was unveiled last month in a joint event with Microsoft. Most analysts are of the general opinion that the Lumia 920 is going to be a strong player in the coming holiday season.
The phone features a 4.5” LCD display at 1280×768 pixels, with a pixel density of 332ppi. It is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon processor with a dedicated Adreno 225 GPU for high end graphics. The phone is supported by 1GB of RAM and has a primary camera that can click photos of resolution as high as 8.7 megapixels and can capture full HD video. The Lumia 920 also packs in a bigger than average 2000 mAh battery.
In addition to AT&T, Verizon, the largest carrier in the United States also has plans to start selling the Windows Phone 8 device later this year. This will provide some strong competition to AT&T which traditionally manages to snag the newest phones. However, AT&T is marketing the Lumia 920 as an AT&T ‘exclusive’, so it’s unclear whether the ‘exclusive’ tag is just a marketing gimmick or the device is actually going to be confined to AT&T only.
In addition to the Lumia 920, there will be other Lumia devices in AT&T’s line up such as the Lumia 820, which is a mid-range Windows Phone device from Nokia. Both the 820 and the 920 will run on AT&T’s LTE network. So far, the Lumia 920 has been announced only by Italian and Swedish carriers, and AT&T is the first carrier in the United States to announce its plans for the Windows Phone 8 platform.
