Back in the day, quad-core powered smartphones were mere plans in the drawing boards of smartphone manufacturers. However, Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC made this a reality when news of the existence of its HTC Edge came out late last year. For the uninitiated, the HTC Edge is the acclaimed as the world’s first smartphone to be powered by a quad-core processor and was the culprit that ushered in the entry of other quad-core monsters into the smartphone competition. The code name HTC Edge did not stick though as we saw the handset go through a couple of name changes before it finally settled for HTC One X when it was unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona back in February.

During its heydays, the HTC One X became an instant hit when it was released by AT&T in US shores as the HTC One X 4G. But the time of the HTC One X 4G has already passed and it is already headed for retirement because its successor, the even more powerful HTC One X+ has already made its debut in the shelves of AT&T. In a nutshell, the HTC One X+ is just basically an HTC One X but infinitely better. The handset is based on the platform of the HTC One X but got several minor design overhauls and major upgrades under the hood.

If you happen to have AT&T for your wireless provider of choice and are in the market for a high-end device that comes with all the bells and whistles that you could ever want in a handset, the HTC One X+ is your best bet. And right now is probably the best time to break that piggy bank and finally take the plunge because the carrier has already slashed the price of the handset. As it stands, AT&T has already allowed its authorized resellers to sell the HTC One X+ at heavily discounted prices making the handset even more affordable now. Of course, you will still be required to sign a new two-year service agreement with AT&T for that matter but at this unbeatable price, staying with AT&T for another two years is a small price to pay if you get to go home with a handset that is said to have the most beautiful smartphone display in the market.

Under the hood, the HTC One X+ already runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its operating system and though it hasn’t been confirmed yet, we are willing to bet the farm that the handset will also get cranked up to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean in the near future. The operation of the HTC One X+ is powered by its NVIDIA Tegra 3 AP37 chipset which brings in to play a quad-core 1.7 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor and a full gigabyte of RAM. Storage space onboard the HTC One X+ is pegged at a very generous 64GB of internal memory while its display measures 4.7 inches diagonally and is of the SuperLCD 2 variety with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Its dual-shooter configuration on the other hand boasts of a rear 8Mp shooter and a front 1.6MP snapper.
