Since the release of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus late last year to coincide with the release of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich late last year, the Google flagship handset running the latest version of Android for its operating system instantly became one of the hottest and most sought-after smartphones in the Android ecosystem. Despite this fact, the handset experienced what could only be seen as a rather slow rollout in US shores.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus has been offered by Verizon in US shores for the longest time but other than that, other carriers are somewhat slow to pick up on the popularity of the said handset. Just recently though, we’ve heard that Sprint is in the final preparations for launching its variant of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus but until now, these reports are yet to be confirmed by the wireless provider. Subscribers of T-Mobile and AT&T on the other hand had to resort to using the unlocked GSM version of the handset just to get a feel of the pure Android experience brought about by the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

If you happen to have AT&T for your wireless provider of choice, the next bit of news will surely be music to your ears. It turns out that the carrier also has plans of adding the current Google flagship device to its stable of Android-powered smartphones and could actually be launching the handset soon if certain rumors pan out. At this point, everything is still unconfirmed but an inside source from AT&T has confirmed that the wireless provider has started sending out SIM cards for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for testing. The said source has also confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus SIM cards are of the standard variety and not microSIM cards found in the iPhone 4S and in other recently-launched Verizon handsets. In addition to that, the source whispered that the SIM cards for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus are 4G LTE-enabled which means that the variant of the handset that AT&T will be releasing if ever will pack support for the ever-expanding 4G LTE network of the wireless provider.

Additionally, the reliable source who claims to be as close to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus situation over at AT&T as possible has said that the SKU for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus SIM cards is 73057. Everything about the whole situation may still be unconfirmed as of the moment but this is actually a pretty strong indication that Verizon will no longer have exclusivity over the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and get more competition with Sprint and AT&T already both making plans of flooding the market of their respective variants of the handset.

Again, no confirmation or denial has been released by AT&T at this point in time about its supposed release plans for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and it still is wise to take everything with a grain of salt. But with the indications mentioned above, there is a more than likely possibility that we will see the current Google flagship handset in the shelves of AT&T soon.  Buy the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus starting at $79.
