The HTC One X is one of the most powerful handsets in the smartphone competition today with the fire-breathing components it packs under the hood. In fact, it is the first handset in the world to have a quad-core processor in its internals and this dates back to the time when the handset was still known as the HTC Edge from late last year.
Due to the impressive components and capabilities of the handset, AT&T had it added on to its stable of Android-powered devices and released the smartphone as the HTC One X 4G. It has one glaring difference from its international sibling though – it only packs a dual-core processor under the hood compared to the quad-core powered original version of the handset. The AT&T HTC One X 4G however still got better scores in several benchmark tests when it went head to head with the international version of the handset so this is in the very least comforting for owners of the superphone.
Despite this, there is still a portion of the population that felt limited with the stock Android experience that the HTC One X 4G brings to the fold. So despite edging out its international sibling in benchmark tests, users of the HTC One X 4G can‘t do anything but look in envy as the original version of the HTC One X got its CyanogenMod ROM. However, the hardworking fellows of the developer communities have also managed to come up with a CyanogenMod build for the HTC One X 4G.
Since this is just the first build of CM9 for the AT&T HTC One X 4G, it is only natural that the build is not as perfect as we would want it to be. In addition to that, there are still a couple of things that are still not working although some of our smartphone-crazed brethren who already flashed this CM9 build onto their HTC One X 4G handsets attest to the fact that the build is already fairly stable and can already be used on a daily basis.
As mentioned earlier, there are still features that do not work and these are NFC, the handset’s camcorder along with Panorama mode in the Camera application. When you come to think of it, these are just minor annoyances and we are pretty sure that the boys and girls of the developer communities will get these taken care of before we know it.
As for the AT&T version of the HTC One X 4G, this handset already runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its operating system and this draws power from the QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset of the handset. This SoC gives the handset dual-core capabilities as mentioned earlier. The computing power needed by the handset on the other hand is generated by a combination of a dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and a full gigabyte of RAM. The storage space onboard the handset comes up to 16GB while its display measures 4.7 inches and is of the SuperIPS LCD2 type with a 1280 x 720 resolution. The camera department of the HTC One X 4G on the other hand is composed of an 8MP shooter at its back panel and a 1.3MP camera found out front. The launch price tag of the HTC One X just dropped to $119 at select online retailers.
