With dual front facing speakers, the Beats Audio sound enhancement package and a Stereo FM radio with RDS display functionality, the AT&T HTC One hit that company’s 4G LTE network in the United States on April 19. Delivering the Jelly Bean operating system out-of-the-box, the handset is due to receive a bump up to Jelly Bean 4.2.2 in July, according to HTC. With initial sales of over 5 million units in just over one month of availability, the phone has been an initial success for the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer.
The HTC One 4G Stealth Black is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $79.99.
HTC announced before the release of the One that while their Droid DNA 4G delivers an outstanding hardware package, they wanted to improve on that mobile handset in four major areas. They did so by improving camera quality and creating the UltraPixel technology, adding a more simplified and intuitive HTC Sense UI, designing the HTC One with dual front facing speakers and enhanced stereo sound, and creating a premium, metal, unibody form factor. This makes the handset powerful but durable, while also delivering an industry-leading 468 pixels per inch on its display.
This creates a Full HD designation and resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, with a scratch resistant layer of Gorilla Glass protecting the screen. More than 16 million different colors can be found on that display, which tops off a slim 0.37 inch (9.3 mm) profile. The Super LCD 3 display measures 4.7 inches, and the power-hungry HTC One 4G for AT&T draws its juice from an extended life 2,300 mA battery. A full 8.5 hours of video playback is possible from a single charge, as is 16.0 hours of talk time. The phone was recently spotted online retailing for $99 on contract running on AT&T, and a generous 32 GB of built-in storage space is on board.
Operations are handled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 APQ8064T system-on-a-chip, with the quad core Snapdragon 600 CPU which has been clocked at 1.7 GHz as its anchor. A full 2.0 GB of RAM memory is also found in the handset’s hardware package, as is a powerful Adreno 320 graphics processor. The HTC One also debuts a brand-new camera technology the company is calling the UltraPixel.
By employing a floating optical lens, advanced ISP and CMOS sensor, the 4.0 megapixel camera on the back of the handset becomes a 2.0 UltraPixel shooter. HTC calls this new development “a step-up in mobile photography.” Video is recorded in 1,080P HD resolution, and slow-motion clips are captured in 768 x 432 pixels. Simultaneous HD video and image capture is present, and multiple special effects and customization possibilities are possible with that rear snapper. Video is captured in stereo sound, and a front facing 2.1 megapixel chat cam is also present.
The HTC One 4G Stealth Black can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $79.99.
