Nokia designed the Lumia 1020 Windows phone in a variety of colors, with a large True HD+ display, and a camera with the highest megapixel count of any smartphone snapper. Available on the AT&T network in the United States since late July of this year, the handset was recently spotted at the Amazon Wireless store with a substantially reduced retail price tag. Cyber Monday and the holiday shopping season are upon us, and to celebrate the holidays, Amazon has priced the powerful Windows phone starting around $75 on contract.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $74.99$49.00 – $610.00.
The Microsoft Windows Phone 8 operating system runs the show, with a polycarbonate form factor making for a durable handset. The display runs a large 4.50 inches, with that AMOLED screen delivering more than 16 million colors at the rate of 334 pixels over each inch of display space. This creates a better than True HD resolution at 768 by 1,280 pixels, and a polarizing filter guarantees excellent viewability, even in direct sunlight. A protective layer of scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 3 guards against dings and drops.
Special light and proximity sensors are on board, and they automatically perform certain display operations, which helps conserve battery power. This aids the 2,000 mAh battery in delivering 19.10 hours of talk time after a full charge. Nokia Lumia 1020 owners also benefit from more than two weeks of standby battery power. Wireless charging is supported, and the chip package is a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 set. This includes a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU, Adreno 225 graphics processor, 2.0 GB of RAM memory for efficient and speedy multitasking, and 32 GB of built-in data storage.
A free 7 GB of SkyDrive storage is also offered to all Nokia Lumia 1020 buyers, and the highlight of the handset is definitely the rear facing camera with a six lens design and Carl Zeiss optics. Technically advanced features like AF Assist Beam, exposure compensation, white balance presets, ISO control and continuous autofocus boost the performance of the rear facing camera, which includes a 41 megapixel sensor and Nokia’s PureView technology.
That rear shooter is capable of 1,080P HD resolution video recording, with the front facing chat cam recording video in 720P HD resolution. Those cameras can work simultaneously in a dual capture mode, with the rear facing snapper operating efficiently in low light situations thanks to LED and Xenon flashes, a back illuminated sensor (BSI) and a video light. On the sound side of the equation, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby headphone enhancement have been added, and the Nokia Lumia 1020 comes equipped with an FM Stereo with RDS display, as well as high-end HAAC microphones which enable hi-fi stereo recording.
