As of the moment, there are only two high-end devices you could choose from if you happen to be a fanboy of the Windows Phone platform – the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X. Well, you can actually make that three if you count in the Samsung ATIV S but due to the handset’s being elusive for the most part, we decided to NOT throw it into the mix. Now, going back to the two other devices, both the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X boast of impressive resumes and have already gotten the Portico update a couple of weeks back so these two handsets are basically on a level playing field.
However, the Nokia Lumia 920, which was exclusively released by AT&T in our side of the world, is looking to get the better of the HTC flagship device and it does this by coming in with a free wireless charging plate. This wireless charging plate for the handset is considered as one of the best accessories you can get for the handset and as its name suggests provides a wireless charging option for the Nokia top-tier handset.
For those not in the know, AT&T has been offering the wireless charging plate for the Nokia Lumia 920 if you purchase the handset from the carrier and sign a new two-year agreement with them in the process. With this in play, all you need to do is plop down your device onto the charging pad and it will instantly refresh and recharge the 2000 mAh power pack of the Nokia Lumia 920 wirelessly. This charging pad when bought separately will set you back by $49 but is already bundled free of charge in the AT&T variant of the Nokia Lumia 920.
If you have had the hots for the Nokia Lumia 920 but haven’t made the decision to take the plunge yet, right now is probably the best time to break that piggy bank and hand over that hard-earned dinero because the carrier’s offer of a free wireless charging pad is about to expire on January 10. Afterwards, you’re on your own and would have to buy the wireless charging pad if you want the option of charging your Nokia Lumia 920 handset wirelessly.
As for the Nokia Lumia 920, the handset is already running Windows Phone 8 for its operating system and this is powered by the device’s QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset. This SoC brings into play a dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz working in conjunction with a full gigabyte of RAM. The Nokia Lumia 920 comes with a very generous 32GB of onboard storage but this is all you get because the handset doesn’t pack support for memory expansion. As for its display, the handset comes with a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ IPS TFT panel with a 1280 x 768 resolution while its dual-shooter configuration boasts of a rear 8MP PureView-powered shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.
