In today’s smartphone market especially when talking about the Windows Phone ecosystem, the Nokia Lumia 920 is one of the best handsets that you can get your hands on. The handset is a beautiful piece of work combining good looks with fire-breathing components under the hood. The handset however was a bit late in getting the Portico update which put it a disadvantage compared to the HTC Windows Phone 8X, another top-tier handset in the platform. The Nokia Lumia 920 however still got the upgrade but its users were made to wait a little longer though.
The Nokia Lumia 920 is available for a reduced holiday price tag now starting at $99.99.
As for the update, it is a given that whenever an update is rolled out to a handset, it is expected to bring goodies and treats that are designed to improve the performance and stability of the said handset and in the process get rid of bugs that hamper its performance. In the case of the Nokia Lumia 920, the Portico update indeed came with bug fixes that significantly improved the performance of the handset but it also came with a caveat – the update may have brought some problems to the Nokia Lumia 920 as well.
We are not sure how severe or how widespread this issue is as of the moment but several Nokia Lumia 920 users have already gotten in touch with us to report that their handsets have had difficulties in managing screen brightness levels after downloading and installing the said Portico update. According to one user, his Nokia Lumia 920 kept on fiddling with the brightness level of its display in an area of average illumination. Some users on the hand reported that the brightness setting of the handset’s display kept fluctuating even if it doesn’t need to be fully bright or very dim. Other owners also reported that the brightness levels of their handsets change several times a minute.
Some say that this could be a calibration problem affecting the Nokia Lumia 920’s ambient light sensor. Several users on the other hand have reported that they managed to take care of this problem when they powered their handsets in total darkness. No confirmation though if this will work in all cases but if your Nokia Lumia 920 4G handset got affected by this issue, there’s no harm in trying this particular workaround I suppose.
As for the Nokia Lumia 920, the handset is already running Windows Phone 8 for its operating system and this is powered by the handset’s QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset which comes with a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM. Storage space on the handset comes up to 32GB while its display measures 4.5 inches diagonally and is of the IPS TFT variety with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. The Nokia Lumia 920’s dual-shooter configuration on the other hand is composed of a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP video call and self-portrait snapper.
You can purchase the Nokia Lumia 920 for a discounted price now starting at $99.99.
