We were hoping to grab a sneak peek at the new generation BlackBerry phones but RIM has made it certain that they are no revealing the BlackBerry 10 phones this year. Research in Motion is betting a lot on their next generation BlackBerry 10 phones. They plan to reverse the losses they have suffered recently.
Chief Marketing Officer Frank Boulben said in an interview that the company wants to show off more of BlackBerry 10 but full reveal won’t occur until closer to the launch. I think this covering the cards strategy holds its grounds in the fact that there have been quite a phone launches this season, it is like a Christmas of smartphones going on and BlackBerry is waiting for another festival. It is not unusual to reveal a phone before its launch. BlackBerry hopes for an event which will be globally backed by carriers. The company has shown the phone privately to the media.
The Canadian mobile company wishes to resurface with BlackBerry 10 and have an impact on the android and iPhone ridden smartphone market. The tech pundits all around the world are wondering if BlackBerry 10 is what RIM needs to come out of its depression. Some experts view the delay as a lack of confidence in the device and also that the device has a lot of loopholes to rectify. RIM lately came up with a music video in an attempt to attract app developers for BB 10. The lack in apps always defeats BlackBerry over android phones. However things didn’t go as planned and the video has been criticised by analysts all over the world, some of them calling it as the worst corporate video ever.
BlackBerry is in no position to take on the iPhone and Android. BlackBerry was known for its subtlety but suddenly it is being viewed as incompetence. Android and iPhone provide a rich experience to the user which BlackBerry has failed to deliver. We hope that BlackBerry utilises this time to come up with a shockingly awesome smartphone and win the hearts of the analysts as well as consumers.
