Research In Motion (RIM) has long been known as the mobile smartphone manufacturer who usually releases their handsets with an eye towards the business and enterprise user, and the BlackBerry Bold 9930 is no exception. When the BlackBerry was first developed, the biggest physical true QWERTY keyboard located beneath a smaller than usual display was a huge hit with CEOs and other business professionals that do extensive texting and wanted to access their e-mail on the go.

The Bridge platform allowed the ability to access and change data and software back at their business headquarters in real time. The newest BlackBerry, the Bold Bold  9930 now offers NFC (Near Frequency Communication), and the latest software application to arrive on the BlackBerry Bold  9930 allows ID badge recognition.

No more having to clip your business, press, security or other idea badge on your uniform, or pull out your wallet to access your ID card. Any application where a previous bar-coded ID card has been used can now be accessed by the software in the BlackBerry Bold 9930 and other new BlackBerry handsets. One of the largest ID card manufacturers in the world, HID Global, made an announcement recently about their partnership with RIM for their iClass digital keys and mobile secure identity technology ID card software application addition to the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930.

And to make for even quicker access, someone owning the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 does not need to enter the phone or any particular application to access this feature and be identified. Merely holding the NFC enabled BlackBerry smartphone in front of an iClass digital reader just as they currently do with their security or ID badge now has the same affect. The list of possible applications is virtually endless, and positions RIM ahead of all other smartphone manufacturers in NFC capabilities.

RIM’s Andrew Blocking is Vice President of handheld software product management, and stated recently that RIM is excited about the partnership possibilities with HID Global, as well as the limitless reach of NFC technology. Dr Tam Hulusi is Senior Vice President of strategic innovation with HID Global, and he mirrored Blocking’s comments when he said, “This industry first is an important milestone in the deployment of mobile access” and smartphone NFC technology, and stated that HID Global will continue to be innovative in their secure identity strategies.

HID Global and RIM will debut this new software at the annual ASIS International 2011 security confab next week.  Get more information about this BlackBerry’s technical specs, features, and where to get your hands on this smartphone at a nice discount in our detailed BlackBerry Bold 9930 Review.
