Anticipated for a lot of reasons, the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone is finally here. Arriving in the United States from mid-to-late March across the T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T networks, the standard black handset now has a lighter colored twin. Black is far and away the most common and popular choice for smartphones today, but Verizon is offering a white option at select online retailers for a discounted sale price of $99 on contract.
The Blackberry Z10 is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $99.99.
The BlackBerry Z10, as you probably know, changes gears for the form factor we have come to expect from that manufacturer. BlackBerry, having changed their name from RIM, wisely decided to ditch their physical QWERTY keyboard design for an entirely touchscreen driven user interface. The result is a phone that looks pretty much like the iOS and Android powered devices that rule the smartphone marketplace. The Z10 offers a large high-resolution screen, and presents the new BlackBerry 10 operating system for the first time.
Replacing the physical keyboard that made the BlackBerry handsets so iconic is a virtual keyboard that actually works quite nicely. It uses built-in intelligence to learn your writing style, so the more you use the keyboard, the more accurate it becomes. Also, if you frequently misspell words or type certain letters when you intend to hit other keys, the keyboard develops a memory and automatically adjusts to help you hit the right key.
The Blackberry Z10 handset also delivers a sharp 8.0 megapixel camcorder, as well as a front facing chat cam. That rear device captures video in 1,080P HD resolution, and also delivers what BlackBerry is calling a Time Shift mode. Basically, this function lets you take snapshots while also capturing s short video just milliseconds before and after your still image was recorded. You can then access your video and choose the exact time frame where the photo looks the best.
The BlackBerry Z10 measures a slim 0.35 inches (9.0 mm) and weighs just 4.85 ounces (138 g). The handset offers a large 4.20 inch LCD display, and resolution runs high at 768 x 1,280 pixels. That means a pixel density of 356 ppi, with more than 16 million colors used to render visual displays. The phone can be manipulated with standard capacitive, multitouch gestures, and the it offers as much as 10.0 hours of talk time from a full battery charge. A Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system chip powers the device, centered around a dual core 1.5 GHz CPU. 2.0 GB of RAM memory is on board, as is 16 GB of built-in storage and a microSD slot.
You can purchase the Blackberry Z10 at a discounted price tag now starting at $99.99.
