The BlackBerry Z10 smartphone is getting many more sales from customers of competing platforms than expected. A full 55% of the new BlackBerry Z10 customers are coming from Android, iOS and Windows Phone operating systems on their previous handsets. That is a much higher conversion rate than BlackBerry could have hoped for, announced BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins during a conference call last week. The company formally known as RIM has pushed “all in” on their BlackBerry bet, and it seems to be paying off.
The BlackBerry Z10 – 4G LTE is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $0.01.
Is BlackBerry truly making a comeback? It is much too early to decide whether the new BlackBerry 10 operating system and revamped form factor of the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone will turn the company around, but the early signs are very hopeful. Heins did not go into a numbers breakdown of exactly how many customers are coming from which operating system, but since smartphone manufacturers depend heavily on keeping loyal customers, to receive more than half of all your customers from the competition is an outstanding achievement in the competitive mobile marketplace.
The company has badly needed good news over the last few years, which have seen a fall from the number one position in the smartphone marketplace in 2007 an irrelevant position before the release of the BlackBerry Z10. Heins stated that, “We’re pretty excited by the stats we’re getting from the market.” He went on to point out that it is a testament of the BlackBerry Z10 strength and operating system that the handset is doing so well in its early goings.
BlackBerry smartphones have always been business minded, and the Z10 handset is no exception. The phone offers the latest in IT support and enterprise features, but also makes sense for the end-user simply looking for a personal phone. Gone is the ubiquitous and iconic physical QWERTY keyboard from previous BlackBerries, and in its place is a large high resolution screen that is totally touch driven.
Easily the fastest and most powerful smartphone BlackBerry released by the Canadian smartphone manufacturer to date, the Z10 delivers a large 4.2 inch LCD screen with 768 x 1,280 pixel resolution. Pixel density is high at 356 pixels per inch, and the handset is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and 2.0 GB of RAM memory. 16 GB of internal storage space is present, and in a microSD slot has been added for storage expansion. The rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution, and a chat cam rides up front.
The BlackBerry Z10 – 4G LTE can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $0.01.
