The new BlackBerry Z10 smartphone is integrated with the new BlackBerry Messenger, and it alerts your contacts to which songs you are listening to. A screen shot was posted recently to the Crackberry forum which shows an update available to your contacts that says exactly what you are currently doing. For instance, if you are watching videos on YouTube, they will get a “listening to YouTube.com” notice. And if you are viewing porn, well, it will tell them which website you are “listening to” as well.
The Blackberry Z10 is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $99.99.
The good news about this feature? A BlackBerry spokesperson recently told an interviewer with website Mashable that the “show what I’m listening to” feature has to be manually turned on. The handset out-of-the-box does not preselect this option, and you must set it yourself. And this does not share content which you are viewing or listening to with other users, it simply alerts your contacts to your current listening activity. To turn on this social networking minded feature, go to Update Your Status in your handset’s Settings, and click it on.
The BlackBerry Z10 has been well received thus far, moving more than 1 million units since its recent arrival. A commercial order was also placed for 1 million units, the largest single order in BlackBerry’s (formerly RIM’s) history so far. The company wisely debuted the BlackBerry Z10 in a familiar form factor to current smartphone shoppers. Previous BlackBerries included a smaller display and physical QWERTY keyboard, and the Z10 offers a large 4.2 inch high-resolution screen that is totally touchscreen driven.
Resolution is extremely high at 1,280 x 768 pixels, as is pixel density at 356 pixels per inch. Physically, the device looks much like other Android and iOS powered smartphones, and measures 5.12 x 2.58 x 0.35 inches (130 x 65.6 x 9), weighing 4.85 ounces (138 g). The 4.2 inch display mentioned earlier contains light and proximity sensors which help conserve battery power, and delivers a full 16 million different colors. Battery conservation efforts help the 1,800 mA cell on board the BlackBerry Z10 to 25% better than average talk time, at 10.0 hours from a full battery charge.
The BlackBerry Z10 comes equipped with a built-in music player, and delivers video out capability through a microHDMI connection. The Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system chip which powers the Z10 is built around a dual core 1.5 GHz CPU, and an Adreno 225 GPU handles all graphics processing. Video capture runs 1,080P HD resolution with the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder, and 2.0 GB of RAM memory is built-in. The handset also offers 16 GB of internal storage and a microSD slot for storage expansion.
You can purchase the Blackberry Z10 at a discounted price tag now starting at $99.99.
