Currently available at select online retailers for around $99 on contract, the BlackBerry Z10 landed on Verizon’s 4G LTE network in late March of this year. This is the handset that BlackBerry, formerly RIM, has bet their future on, and it delivers the brand-new BlackBerry 10 operating system. After the company’s dominance in the smartphone marketplace as recently as 2007, the year the iPhone debuted, the past few years have seen a negligible presence of BlackBerry in the mobile marketplace.
The Blackberry Z10 is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $99.99.
There used to be a time that the company’s iconic physical QWERTY keyboard and small display ruled the smartphone landscape, but when the iPhone showed up with what was a large display at that time at 3.5 inches, and a totally touch screen driven interface, sales of BlackBerries turned sour. The company has wisely reinvented the handset, and it looks like your basic Android or iOS powered smartphone. The touchscreen is large and delivers exceptionally high resolution, there is ample RAM memory under the hood, and a microSD slot has been added.
The 4.2 inch LCD display delivers 768 by 1,280 pixel resolution, delivering more than 16 million colors at an exceptionally high 356 pixels per inch. That BlackBerry Z10 is powered by a dual core 1.5 GHz CPU, and a full 2.0 GB of RAM memory is on board. 16 GB of internal storage is present, and BlackBerry designers kept the smartphone slim, measuring just 0.35 inches (9.0 mm). That BlackBerry Z10 is also light at 4.85 ounces (130 g), and talk time from a full battery charge on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system runs as high as 10.0 hours.
The 1,800 mA battery on board the handset is also capable of up to 13.0 days of standby power, and an Adreno 225 GPU handles graphics processing. BlackBerry engineers powered the handset with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system chip, and the BlackBerry Z10 provides NFC (Near Field Communications) wireless connectivity out-of-the-box. A microHDMI connection allows for video mirroring to an external HDTV or monitor, and wireless access is provided by Bluetooth 4.0, as well as 802.11 a, b, g, n and n 5GHz channels.
The BlackBerry Z10 for Verizon can function as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot for multiple wireless devices, and provides 1,080P HD resolution video recording with its rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder. That rear snapper contains a built-in LED flash and offers digital image stabilization, and is joined in the handset’s camera combo by a front facing chat cam.
You can purchase the Blackberry Z10 at a discounted price tag now starting at $99.99.
