Bright blue and yellow 8 GB HTC Windows Phone 8X smartphones have arrived on the US AT&T network, and were recently spotted with a one penny price tag at the select online retailers. The handset arrived on that AT&T 4G HSPA+ network in early November of last year, and that wireless provider claims you will receive speeds up to four times faster than their previous network. The handset also delivers a built-in mobile hotspot service that allows you to use it as a hub for connecting multiple wireless devices.
The multimedia package includes a YouTube video player and built-in music player, as well as the exclusive Beats Audio sound system. The rear facing camera and front facing chat cam both offer extra-wide 88 degree image capture, and the 8.0 megapixel camera on the back of the handset offers instant access with the dedicated shutter button. That rear snapper also provides nearly instant image capture, a continuous shot mode which captures multiple snapshots in a second, and an f/2.0 aperture.
Video capture runs 1,080P HD resolution on the camcorder, with the front facing chat cam providing video call support. The handset can operate on any GSM or UMTS network globally, and the 8 GB HTC Windows Phone 8X for AT&T boasts a large 4.30 inch screen size. Resolution runs high at 720 x 1,280 pixels, delivered at the highest pixel density for any Windows Phone to date, at 342 pixels per inch. Scratch resistant Gorilla Glass 2 protects the handset against normal use.
On the AT&T network the Windows Phone 8X handset is capable of up to 11.30 hours of talk time from a single charge of the 1,800 mA battery on board, with standby juice lasting 12.1 days. The handset’s hardware package includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 microchip suite, centered around a dual core 1.5 GHz CPU. 16 GB of storage are built-in, 1.0 GB of RAM memory is on board, and graphics are handled exclusively by an Adreno 225 GPU.
Also offered in a 16 GB model and delivering multiple color options, the HTC Windows Phone 8X for AT&T presents wireless charging options out-of-the-box. The front facing chat cam on the handset also provides video call functionality, and the AT&T 8X offers a preloaded Internet Explorer 10 web browser for mobile web surfing access. Social networkers will appreciate that Facebook, Picasa and Twitter applications have been pre-installed, and Near Field Communications (NFC) wireless support is also present.
