If certain rumors are to be believed, then we are about to see Boost Mobile release the LG Venice. The information comes from leaked details about the handset and could give us regular phone-users an idea as to what the LG midranger brings to the table.
Should you happen to give the LG Venice a second look and realize that the handset looks rather familiar, it is actually very familiar because the LG Venice is the original LG Opimus 7 and was only rebranded as such before it gets released by the carrier. In terms of its design and aesthetics, the LG Venice has dimensions of 125.5 x 67 x 8.7 mm and it tips the scales at 122 grams. It is your typical Android-powered device that has a candy bar form factor but everybody is in agreement that the LG Venice has a premium-looking design. In fact, those who already managed to get their hands-on time with the handset claimed that the aesthetics of the LG Venice led them into thinking that the handset is a high-end device and not a handset from the midrange category.
However, when you take look at the specs and information sheet of the handset, it easily becomes apparent that the handset is indeed a midranger for that matter. The LG Venice is expected to ship with Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich and this will be powered by the handset’s QualComm MSM7227A SnapDragon chipset. This type of SoC brings a single-core ARM Cortex-A5 processor clocked at 1 GHz to the handset while its system memory is pegged at 512 MB of RAM. This combination of the processor and RAM in the internals of the handset ensures that the performance of the LG Venice is just as snappy and lag-free for that matter.
In terms of its storage capacity, the LG Venice comes with 4GB of onboard storage. However, only 2.4GB of this is set aside for user content. It is a good thing then that the handset has a microSD card slot in its chassis that makes memory expansion possible in its case so the miniscule internal memory of the handset shouldn’t be an issue at all. In terms of its display, LG has always been commended for the quality of the displays that gets put in its handsets and the LG Venice is not an exception to this.
Display-wise, the LG Venice comes with a 4.3-inch IPS LCD panel with a 480 x 800 resolution. Also, the display of the handset is made from Corning’s famed Gorilla Glass so scratches and dings are the least of your concerns on this baby. As for its camera department, the LG Venice comes with a dual-shooter configuration with the handset’s rear 5MP shooter and a front video call and self portrait camera.
