As with its Droid Razr and Droid Razr Maxx siblings the handset is rugged, with aircraft grade aluminum surrounding the display. That display is protected against scratches and scrapes by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass, and the tough DuPont Kevlar coating is back on the rear of the handset. The Droid Razr M is also splash-proof, carrying a water repellent nanocoating, even on the electronic components inside. Light when compared to other 4G LTE smartphones at only 4.44 ounces (126 g), the handset is also compact at 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.33 inches (122.5 x 60.9 x 8.3 mm).
The 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Advanced display runs from edge to edge with virtually no bezel, allowing the handset to be as compact as possible. Resolution runs 540 x 960 pixels at 256 pixels per inch, and visuals are rendered in more than 16 million colors. The 2,000 mA battery on board delivers an impressive 20.0 hours of talk time from a single charge, and standby time is approximately 17.0 days.
A speedy 1.5 GHz Krait dual core processor joins an Adreno 225 graphics processing chip in the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 microchip package on board the handset. The Droid Razr M 4G LTE offers a microSD slot for storage expansion, supporting cards up to 32 GB in size, and includes 8.0 GB of onboard storage. 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is built-in, and a microHDMI port is included with video out possibilities.
A front facing VGA quality chat cam allows for video call capabilities, and is joined by a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder in the camera combo. That rear device records video at 1,080P HD resolution, and a built-in music player supports all major audio file formats. YouTube and Picasa online destination applications have been pre-installed. The Motorola SmartActions application helps conserve battery life, and also allows you to pre-schedule certain applications and handset operations to automatically launch, directed by GPS settings.
