When designing any type of consumer electronic device, there is a give-and-take. The large you make it, the heavier and bulkier it is. But if you make it exceptionally small, and it offers a lot of features and functions which draw heavy battery juice, portability stinks because you are always looking for somewhere to plug it in for a recharge. Motorola Mobility designers effectively solved both of those problems with the Droid Razr M 4G smartphone, and the handset offers an extremely light, thin and compact form factor, yet also delivers a large high-resolution screen and all day battery performance.
Motorola has given the Droid Razr M 4G a 2,000 mA lithium-ion battery that is larger than the average sized smartphone cell, and delivers 40% more power than the iPhone 5. Capable of charging in less than four hours, a complete charge delivers a full 17.0 days of standby power. The handset also delivers all day performance across multiple functions, and as many as 20.0 hours of talking time from a single battery charge.
Delivering the Jelly Bean 4.1 Android operating system out-of-the-box, the phone also provides the Motorola SmartActions application which allows you to set battery saving rules for your Droid Razr M. This further extends a battery charge, and the phone itself is slim, light and small. Measuring just 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.33 inches (122.5 x 60.9 x 8.3 mm) in size, the handset only weighs 4.44 ounces (126 g). Compared to other 4G smartphones with the same size 4.3 inch display, the handset is much more compact and lightweight.
That was achieved by stretching the 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED display from corner to corner and edge to edge, drastically reducing the size of the surrounding bezel. This puts all your focus on the 540 x 960 pixel resolution screen, which delivers more than 16 million colors. Gorilla Glass has added a protective layer of scratch resistance, and the Droid Razr M 4G is also splash-proof inside and out.
The power pack on board the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system chip, with a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU at its core. An Adreno 225 GPU handles graphics processing, 1.0 GB of RAM is on board, and Motorola has included 8.0 GB of internal storage. The device also delivers a microSD slot for storage expansion, and video is recorded at 1,080P HD resolution with the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder. The Droid Razr M 4G is also NFC capable out-of-the-box, and comes equipped with a Bluetooth Stereo music player.
