droiddnaDespite having several bestselling handsets, smartphone manufacturer HTC has not been respected by Wall Street recently. In an attempt to become viable once again, HTC pulled out all the stops when they created their Droid DNA 4G Android smartphone. The handset delivers the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system with HTC Sense UI, the phone is powered by a powerful quad core CPU, delivers a generous amount of RAM memory and the exclusive Beats Audio sound enhancement package.

The DROID DNA By HTC is available now starting at $199.99.

But the first thing you notice about the slim and sleek Droid DNA 4G is the huge, high-resolution 5.0 inch touchscreen with Full HD designation. HTC stated point-blank that they were going after the Galaxy S III and iPhone 5 smartphones when they released the DNA 4G back in November of last year, and that large display delivers a resolution that is at least 33% higher than both of those devices. Also, at 5.0 inches, the Droid DNA 4G display narrowly beats out the Galaxy S III (4.80 inches), and easily bests the iPhone 5 (4.0 inches).

In both pixel density and resolution the handset turns in better numbers than the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S III, offering an extremely high pixel density of 441 pixels per inch, with overall resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. 326 color pixels are located over each inch of display space on the iPhone 5, for an overall resolution of 640 x 1,136 pixels. And the Galaxy S III offers 306 pixels per inch, delivering a True HD display resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels on its capacitive, multitouch supported screen.

That is not to say that either the Galaxy S III or iPhone 5 smartphones are not crisp and clean, with excellent resolution. However, the display on board the Droid DNA 4G raises the bar significantly regarding resolution, and the seamless laminated screen helps eliminate reflection. The CPU mentioned above is a powerful Snapdragon 1.5 GHz quad core model, and the Droid DNA 4G integrates distinctive red side grills and an ultra-matte finish into a slim profile which measures just 0.38 inches (9.73 mm).

A layer of Gorilla Glass 2 scratch resistant glass protects against your everyday abuse, and talk time on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system runs as high as 12.6 hours from a single charge. The graphics processor is an Adreno 320 GPU, and a full 2.0 GB of RAM memory joins 16 GB of built-in storage space in the handset’s hardware package. The rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder delivers 1,080P HD resolution video recording and continuous shooting by holding down the shutter button, and is also capable of simultaneously capturing HD images and video.

The DROID DNA By HTC is available now starting at $199.99.
