The Motorola Droid Razr MAXX 4G Android smartphone launched in the US on January 26 on the speedy Verizon 4G LTE wireless network. Much like its predecessor the Droid Razr 4G was designed to be the skinniest handset in the world, Motorola designers and engineers were attempting to create the maximum battery performance of any smartphone when they created the Droid Razr MAXX 4G. And that is exactly what they built. With 21.5 hours of talk time or 15.0 hours of video playback provided from a single battery charge, the Droid Razr MAXX 4G provides the best single charge battery life of any smartphone.
But since the world of smartphones is a copycat environment, manufacturers consistently re-creating the qualities and features of their competitors best selling phones, you would think that after seven months of availability, some cell phone would certainly have trumped the outstanding battery performance the Droid Razr MAXX offers. That is not the case. That handset is still far and away the leader in battery performance, allowing an entire day’s use without the need for a charger. And the handset also stresses the max and its name by providing the maximum amount of out-of-the-box data storage of any smartphone, at 32 GB.
That 32 GB of user accessible data storage is comprised of 16 GB built into the handset and a removable 16 GB microSD card that ships with the phone. The iconic splash resistant, Kevlar and aluminum chassis with clipped corner design offers a unique look, and despite the fact the phone bears an oversized 3,300 mA battery, it is still exceedingly thin at only 0.35 inches (8.9 mm). The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network in the US provides simultaneous voice and data access, allowing a Motorola Droid Razr MAXX user to browse the web or check e-mail while in the middle of a voice call.
The handset also delivers a 4.30 inch screen with 540 x 960 pixel resolution. That Super AMOLED Advanced touchscreen is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass, and a dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 central processor joins a graphics dedicated PowerVR SGX540 GPU in the Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 microchip package on board. Video capture at 1,080P HD resolution is provided by the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder, and a 1.3 megapixel chat cam faces the user. A YouTube video player has been pre-installed, and the Motorola Droid Razr MAXX 4G Android smartphone contains a built-in music player which supports all major audio file formats. The Droid Razr Maxx is currently available starting at $99 at select online retailers.
