Getting a step on your competitors is important in any business, and especially so in the hypercompetitive mobile marketplace. Smartphone sellers in physical and virtual retail outlets around the world began discounting the purchase price on their mobile handsets before Black Friday, and have continued to do so through Cyber Monday and on into the holiday shopping season. Amazon got a jump on the competition by pricing the Motorola Droid Mini 4G Android smartphone at just $0.01 on contract, well ahead of Black Friday.
The Motorola Droid Mini can be purchased at a reduced price starting at one penny.
Amazon is the largest Internet retailer in the world, and one of the biggest sellers of smartphones and mobile handsets. The one penny price tag attached to the Motorola Droid Mini is certain to keep the handset popular throughout the entire holiday shopping season, and the handset has been a good seller for Verizon ever since it arrived earlier this year. The Motorola Droid Mini is exclusive to Verizon, whose 4G LTE system in the United States is the largest, covering 96% of the population.
Motorola’s Ultra-series devices include the Motorola Droid Mini, the Droid Ultra and the Droid MAXX, which debuted at the same time, each focusing on a different feature or aspect. Just like the MAXX and Ultra, the Droid Mini offers the Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System, 2.0 GB of RAM memory, a large True HD display and a 10.0 megapixel quick capture camera. But unlike those other two smartphones, the Motorola Droid Mini does all of that in a compact, slim and light form factor, measuring just 4.77 x 2.41 x 0.35 inches (121.25 x 61.3 x 8.9 mm).
The Droid Mini handset is also lighter than most other smartphones, weighing just 4.59 ounces (130 g). A Kevlar fiber back plate and Gorilla Glass display make for a rugged handset, one that boasts a large 4.30 inch True HD capacitive, multitouch screen with built-in light and proximity sensors that help conserve battery power. Pixel density is high at 342 pixels per inch, and the power-sipping software and features on the phone help deliver a generous 28.0 hours of talk time after a full battery charge. The handset can also rest in standby mode for approximately two weeks, and supports wireless charging, so you are not always looking for a charging cable.
The X8 Mobile Computing System uses eight entire cores to process your requests and handle operations, but these eight cores are not all found in the central processor. Operational duties are shared between a natural language processor, contextual computing core, quad core graphics processor and dual core 1.7 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU. This speeds up operations all-around, and helps conserve battery power. A full 2.0 GB of RAM is also on board, as is 16 GB of built-in storage and a free offering of Google Drive virtual storage space. The quick capture 10.0 megapixel rear camera records video in 1,080P HD resolution, and is joined in the handset’s camera combo by a front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam. The Droid Mini can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at just one penny.
