Recently, Vanguard Games and 343 Industries announced a partnership which will bring a new and exclusive Halo game only to the Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 operating systems. The game will arrive on the HTC Windows Phone 8X in July, and allows mobile gamers to battle through 25 different missions. This is possible because the Windows Phone 8 operating system syncs with your Windows powered PC, and the HTC Windows Phone 8X hit the AT&T network on November 10 of last year. Running on that company’s 4G HSPA+ network, the phone offers mobile hotspot service and NFC support out-of-the-box, as well as the most recent Windows Phone 8 operating system. The exclusive HTC Beats Audio sound system is also on board, boosting your audio signal through dedicated speaker and headset amplifiers.
For frequent travelers, the HTC Windows Phone 8X offers global GSM and UMTS support, and the phone was recently spotted online with a retail price tag of just one penny on contract. Slim and light, the Windows Phone 8X for AT&T measures just 0.40 inches (10.1 mm) in thickness, and weighs 4.59 ounces (130 g). The display measures a large 4.30 inches, delivering a resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels. A full 16 million separate colors are spread across that screen at the rate of 342 color pixels for every inch of display space. The Super LCD 2 screen is protected against the normal rigors of life with a layer of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass 2.
Talk time on the AT&T network runs as much as 11.3 hours from a full charge, and the Windows Phone 8X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system chip. A dual core 1.5 GHz CPU runs the show, an Adreno 225 GPU handles all graphics processing, 16 GB of built-in data storage is present, as is 1.0 GB of RAM. Many phones deliver a rear facing camera with an extra-wide lens, but the Windows Phone 8X is unique in offering a super-wide 88 degree lens on both front and rear cameras.
That delivers nearly triple the capture capability of most smartphone cameras, and the rear snapper on the Windows Phone 8X boasts an 8.0 megapixel sensor with a dedicated shutter key and quick capture speeds. That rear shooter also delivers a continuous shot mode and excellent low light capability thanks to the f/2.0 lens, built-in LED flash and back illuminated sensor (BSI). Video is captured in 1,080P HD resolution and 30 frames per second, and the front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam can also provide Skype and video call support.
