The very popular Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has been selling very well on the Verizon Wireless network this year and it looks like those that were lucky enough to get one will be seeing a software update coming very soon. Even though the update is not the Android 4.4 KitKat update that everyone will be waiting for, it is an essential update and will be fixing a bunch of bugs that have been noticed since the device was released. Verizon Wireless posted details about the update on its support pages for the Galaxy Note 3 this week.
Users that have been posting to Android forums online have also confirmed a small, but important update for the Galaxy Note 3 that is expected to improve the user experience. According to the changelog posted on the Verizon Wireless support pages the software update is build JSS15J.N900VVRUBMJE. The update will bring fixes for Picture Me, handwriting issues with the S-Pen in emails, email connections issues and 4G LTE connection improvements will also be made. Some users complained about Bluetooth audio streaming issues and those should be fixed as well. Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity was also mentioned in some reports, with most complaining about signal drop.
The Samsung keyboard will see improvements, plus the notification bar will be smoother and more responsive according to Verizon Wireless. Verizon also enabled the Band 4 AWS spectrum and because of that, voice quality has been better, but on the flipside, Verizon has also added more programs that many are not going to find useful. Four new apps will be added and even though they can be removed, they cannot be bypassed if installed. Verizon Cloud, VMWare, Verizon Widget app and the Verizon support application will be added to the Galaxy Note 3.
The update is rolling out to users right now, but if you are not seeing the notification, you can go to Settings > About Phone > Check for Updates to see if the download is ready for you. The Galaxy Note 3 is a nice improvement from last year’s model coming with a 5.7-inch touch screen display, 1080p HD resolution, 13MP camera with LED flash and a quad-core processor. Internal memory is listed at 32GB and can be expanded via microSD card if needed. Graphics are handled by the Adreno 330 processor along with 3GB of RAM.

There is no
“Settings > About Phone > Check for Updates”
That does not exist. “About Phone” does not exist in the path.
Frustrating and another reason they suck.
