The Galaxy S III may be Samsung’s most powerful phone as of the moment but there are a lot of questions surrounding its build quality. Even before the handset hit the shelves, there were reports that Samsung had to get rid of approximately 600,000 faulty back covers of the Pebble Blue version of the Samsung Galaxy S III. This is said to be the reason as to why this particular variant of the handset took a while before becoming available in the shelves for mass consumption.  You can currently purchase the Galaxy S III starting at $99 at select retailers (prices vary by carrier).

In addition to that, there were several reports about users finding small cracks near and around the camera area of the handset’s Marble White version. That doesn’t end there though because there were also users who reported finding cracks in the plastic frame of the handset. These cracks were usually found on the sides of the Samsung Galaxy S III and at its bottom edge. It is a given fact that wear and tear due to daily use (and abuse) could lead to this but the users who reported this swear that they did not mishandle their handsets in any way.

Back then, there were rumors that Samsung was already on to the issue and will eventually repair the affected units but this remained unconfirmed as of press time and the manufacturer is yet to issue a statement regarding this matter.

Just recently, a source claimed that Samsung is ignoring the issue concerning the Samsung Galaxy S III’s build quality issues. Apparently, one user of the handset experienced this problem with his handset and when he discovered a crack at the bottom of his handset, he immediately got in touch with Samsung only to be told that the handset’s warranty did not cover this type of damage on the Samsung Galaxy S III and was instructed to have the device checked at Samsung’s Repair Center.

Upon going to the Repair Center, the user was informed by the technicians there that they already have at least 30 more Samsung Galaxy S III users who brought their handsets due to the same reason. Because of the number of complaints about the build quality of the handset, the folks at the Repair Center contacted Samsung to report the issue but the manufacturer apparently denied that this is a widespread issue.

As of the moment, Samsung is yet to release an official statement regarding the matter.

Build qualities aside, there is no doubt about the power the Samsung Galaxy S III packs under the hood. The handset has a QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset under the hood which gives it a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and 2GB of RAM for a really flawless performance. The handset can be had in either 16GB r 32GB in terms of storage space with the option to have this expanded. In terms of its display, the handset sports a massive 4.8-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a  1280 x 720 resolution while its camera department is just as capable with its rear 8MP shooter and front 1.9MP video call camera, both of which are capable of clip capture of 1080p and 720p, respectively.  Buy the Samsung Galaxy S III starting at $99.
