The summer is not the best time of year for the mobile marketplace sales-wise, but that has not stopped the popular and best-selling Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone from tabulating its 40 millionth global sale. Samsung CEO JK Shin announced that sales mark recently, which is not surprising when you consider that the Galaxy S4 exploded onto the mobile scene with 10 million sales in less than its first 30 days of availability.
The Samsung Galaxy S 4 Black Mist is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $119.
The handset tabulated 20 million global sales just before two months of availability, and it needed just four months to achieve 30 million sales. And remarkably, those sales figures do not include the several Galaxy S4 variants which the company has released, such as the Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Zoom and Galaxy S4 Mini. The smartphone debuted in April of this year, and has taken less than six months to earn its 40 million badge.
Easily one of the most popular smartphones ever released by Samsung, it will eventually pass the 60 million global sales that the Galaxy S III recently achieved. However, the Galaxy S III smartphone has been around for nearly a year longer than the Galaxy S4, and in this new sales milestone is important because most mobile handsets do not even see a couple of million sales in their lifetime. The Galaxy S III was the bestselling and quickest-selling smartphone when it debuted, and the Galaxy S4 has crushed all of its early sales records at Samsung.
Rumors are that the Samsung Galaxy S5 could be released as early as February, although the company will not confirm nor deny that rumor. And with the upcoming holiday season an important one to say the least for mobile handset sales, that news coupled with the fact that the Galaxy S4 has been selling well in a traditionally slow summer season for the mobile marketplace is a good sign for future sales of the popular and powerful handset.
Samsung has announced that the new Google 4.3 Android operating system upgrade is just around the corner for all Galaxy S4 providers in the United States. No hard delivery date has been announced, and the upgrade will depend entirely on your particular wireless carrier. Delivering an extremely slim body at 0.31 inches (7.9 mm), the handset is also light in weight at 4.59 ounces (130 g). The Galaxy S4 offers a large 5.0 inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. More than 16 million colors are used to render visuals, the phone delivers a full 17.0 hours of talk time after a full battery charge, and the CPU is a 1.9 GHz quad core Snapdragon 600 processor.
The Samsung Galaxy S 4 Black Mist can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $119.
