nexus8You might have been hearing a little bit about a new tablet that Google has in the works to help take on the popular iPad Mini 2.  The Google Nexus 8 will be the next tablet to grace the market and should fit nicely in the group of Nexus branded devices on the market already.  This week, the Nexus 8 was rumored to be coming and that LG was the company that was going to be making it.  Today, consumers learned more about the new Google Edition LG G Pad.

The LG G2, Black is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $19.99 – $599.99.

Just like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One that are on the market today, the LG G Pad will have a stock Android operating system running it.  Because LG makes the Nexus 5, many assumed that the Google Edition LG G Pad would be the next version of the Nexus tablet.  The Nexus 10 did not sell very well last year and that might be part of the reason we have not seen a second generation model yet this year.  Instead, Google is looking to take on the 8-inch tablet market that is a little less crowded right now.

The Google Edition of devices that are available on the market are just stock Android operated, meaning they do not have the user interface covering the main software like on Samsung with TouchWiz and HTC with Sense.  One online source is suggesting that instead of releasing the Nexus 8, Google might just release a Google Edition of the LG G Pad in the Play Store.  The device would be an 8.3-inch model and come with Android 4.4 KitKat already installed on it.  Plus, it would be considered a Nexus device and that would mean it is first in line for any further Android updates.

The LG G Pad comes with an 8.3-inch touch screen display that features a full 1080p HD resolution.  According to one report, you will be able to pick one up for just $349.  Other specs would surely include a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, at least 5MP camera on the back side, 16GB of minimum internal storage, a microSD card slot and maybe an LTE version in the future.  The tablet will likely sell well in today’s market that is crowded by 7-inch models that are running Android and selling for as little as $100.
