googleglassshadeGoogle Glass has been used by developers for more than a year now and even though the product has not been for sale to the general public yet, the product is getting some accessories.  When it comes to daily use and a trendy product, the developer edition of the Google Glass is not all that impressive, but that is about to change.  Today, Google announced that it would be offering sunglasses, as well as prescription options for those that would like the style and option for daily use.  Google Glass might look nerdy the way it stands right now, but the company is hoping to change that.

Google revealed an all Titanium frame series that comes in prescription lenses and shades if you would like to block out the sun at the same time.  Google Glass is getting closer to a public launch and by adding these options the company is showing that it wants to cater to everyone.  Because there are millions of people that rely on prescription lenses each day, Google saw a reason to add the option so they could also enjoy the Google Glass if they chose to.

Google brought four frame options to the market and for those that want the stylish Titanium option, while at the same time adding two options from Ray Ban if you want the shades as an option.  Google sent out the Google Glass a year ago to those that wanted to build apps for the new product, as well as plop down the $1,500 to do so.  By the time that the Google Glass makes it to the market, it will have dropped in price, but an exact target has not been announced at this time.  The frames will come in four styles priced around $225.

The four styles that were revealed this week are “Curve”, “Bold”, “Split” and “Thin”.  Curve are a thicker frame and more round, while Bold is also thick, it comes with a more rectangle look.  Split are thin frames and rimless bottoms, while Thin are a classic rectangle look.  Google is reportedly designing and making the frames on its own .  The corrective lenses will be fit by your eye doctor as well as a few partners that specialize in the corrective eyewear market.  Some insurance companies might even cover some of the cost of the new product.
