nexus7aNow that Google has just released the second generation Nexus 7 tablet, it is about time consumers get a chance to check out the LTE model of the tablet.  Back in July the second generation tablet was released and even though there were some issues with the new Android Jelly Bean 4.3 software, consumers were really waiting patiently for the Nexus  7 LTE model to arrive.  Shortly after the initial release, the LTE model showed up in various places, but in the United States was not one of them.

That is about to change as a new report out today shows that the Nexus 7 LTE model is actually available in the Google Play Store for those of you that live in the United States.  A couple of weeks ago was when Google finally made it known that the Nexus 7  LTE was going to be available at some point and now it is ready to ship a couple weeks ahead of the release of the iPad Mini 2 from Apple.  Up to today, the Google Play Store showed that the 32GB model of the Nexus 7 LTE was “coming soon”.

Now that the device is live, consumers can decide if they want to put up $350 for the second generation device with LTE support.  Back in July, the second generation Wi-Fi only model was released and it brought with it a couple of new features like a better display, better design and the latest Android operating system pre-installed.  The LTE model comes with a SIM card for the T-Mobile network, but it is also expected to be compatible with the AT&T and Verizon Wireless networks, which Google promised, but have yet to be confirmed.

Google is offering free shipping for the LTE model of the Nexus 7 from the Google Play store, although customers will have to wait 1 to 2 days before it ships.  As the LTE model gets becomes available to more customers, it will be selling faster and the shipping dates are likely to get longer, so if you want one before Christmas you might want to get in line now.  In late October, Google is expected to release a new smartphone, presumably the Nexus 5, and the newest version of the Android software reportedly called “KitKat”.
