The Google Play Store might not seem like the best place to find information about a device that has not been released yet, but at the same time Google usually does a good job at keeping things to itself until it is necessary for the public to know them. Adding devices to the Google Play Store and then removing them quickly is one way that users have been able to get an eye on new devices that the company is getting ready to launch. The same thing happened with the Nexus 4, the soon-to-be-released Nexus 5 and most recently, the Nexus 10 tablet.
The Nexus 10 was placed on the Google Play store briefly and most likely to test the look of the page before launch, but it was long enough for users to catch a glimpse of the device and make notes on the actual specs that we can all expect. The device is reportedly going to be built by Samsung and comes with a 10-inch display with a 2560×1600 resolution, which is the same as the one that appeared on the original model from last year. The specs that have been bumped up include the Snapdragon 800 and the whopping 3GB of RAM.
The quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor is one of the fastest chips on the market today with reports suggesting that it clocks out at 2.2GHz, but it could be dialed down by Samsung. Either way the processor is super fast and will be a huge improvement to the dual-core that came in the device last year. The tablet will also feature the new Android 4.4 KitKat software, which should not come as any surprise to those that have been paying attention. The details of the new software are slim, but the rumors indicate that Google is going to focus on TV connectivity this time around.
The Nexus 10 will also feature an 8MP camera on the back with a smaller, 2.1MP webcam on the front side of the device. Internal storage will top out at 32GB and the 9,500mAh battery should provide more than enough continuous usage depending on what you are doing with your tablet. Even though the battery is larger than the original, the tablet is still only 7.9mm thick and weighs less than 585 grams. The tablet is rumored to be launching on November 1st, which is the same day as the iPad Air from Apple.
